The Evolution of Healthcare - From Paternalism to Patient-Centered Care ??
In the past, the healthcare narrative was dominated by - where the doctor was the sole decision-maker and the patient's opinion was rarely considered. Today, we've pivoted towards, a model that places the patient at the center of the decision-making process. No longer are things done TO patients but WITH them. When patients are active participants in their care, outcomes improve dramatically. Link to a Story
This shift is not about taking power away from doctors but about empowering patients. It's a call to balance medical paternalism and patient autonomy and recognize the immense value of patient expertise.

Article 3: Medical Gaslighting - A Silent Epidemic ??
Medical gaslighting, where health professionals downplay or dismiss a patient's symptoms or health concerns, is a silent epidemic with profound effects on patients' mental and physical health. Too often, patients with chronic illnesses are made to feel like burdens, their symptoms ignored or trivialized.
A deeply troubling personal experience at a major hospital in Vienna brought this issue to the forefront. Left bleeding intentionally after a blood draw, I was told it was to "educate" me. There is no lesson to be learned in causing intentional harm or discomfort to a patient. This is not just unprofessional, it's inhumane.
We must change the narrative. We must ensure that every individual's pain is acknowledged, not trivialized. We must treat patients with chronic illnesses with the respect, understanding, and care they deserve.
