Patience is Hard
PATIENCE
?
“Patience is a virtue” – I’ve never fully understood what that meant but would (and still do) repeat it if the situation called for it. I now take it to mean, having patience is having the ability to pause, slow down, and think forward. That is certainly not going to be found in Webster, but it works for me.
As long as I can remember I’ve been a “go go go” type of guy, this can be corroborated by anyone who knows me. I enjoy moving fast and bringing energy, detail, and passion to what I do. There are times, however, that I truly need to slow down – as our CEO reminds me from time to time.
Slowing down does not mean “stopping,” rather, it means a brief pause to reassess think forward. This is what patience means to me.
“Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you have in mind.” – David G. Allen
Patience is applicable in every situation I can think of, work, life, relationship, friendship, strangers, etc. Having the ability to not impulsively react to a situation is critical.
Until writing this blog, I did not realize that my career arc is the best example of practicing patience that I can think of. I always knew accounting was not my passion but was also unsure of what my passion was, if I even had one, or what options were even out there! I was inherently patient for nearly a decade and I could not be happier with the outcome.
Think of a small dormant seed that grew into a tree! Now there’s some patience...

3 个月??As per the wise words of Mahatma Gandhi, “To lose patience is to lose the battle.” Everyone knows we must be patient in order to enjoy life. Sometimes, the process is not as simple as ordering takeout from a fast-food chain. It is more like going into some fancy restaurant, where you have to wait for your turn. The choice is yours, whether you want to contend with a burger and fried chicken or desire to fill your soul with some gourmet meal. The wait helps rekindle the appetite, and when the dishes arrive, you'll be glad you waited. #Patience is a valuable virtue that offers numerous benefits. In this rapid age, we have almost forgotten the importance of patience. Our lives are as fast-paced as our food. But to achieve something great or to produce some outstanding result, we need to devote the required time and show the needed patience.
