“Pathways to Self Determination Conference” day one was filled with inspiration, heartfelt testimonials, demonstration of perseverance, resilience, passion, determination, blanketed with gratitude and modesty.


Michelle Cameron’s story filled us with a wide range of emotions, her story culminating in profound personal professional achievement. Michelle’s commitment to community, her staff colleagues and family is so genuine. Great to meet friends Earl Lambert, Jill Featherstone, Melissa Walterson, Ovide Mercredi, and Michelle.

Here is Michelle's letter to herself a number of years ago I share with her permission...

Dear Michelle,

I know life hasn't always been easy. In fact your journey has taken you on a roller coaster ride. There have been days that were amazing and there were days when you questioned your worth.

But today I'm here to remind you that all your struggles, all your successes have lead you to this moment right here, right now.

Remember these things I'm about to tell you....

Love yourself, believe in yourself, don't ever give up because you define your own path forward. It's never to early or too late to dream a new dream. Don't ever forget who you are and where you came from.

Do me a favour, don't ever forget that little girl inside who believed in doing something big, dream big because you define your own life.

Keep chasing your dreams!

Today was an honour to witness "First Nation Excellence, First Nation Class!"
