Pathways to Progress in Business

Pathways to Progress in Business

A little bit of a busy week with Diwali and Halloween falling in the same week alongside the realization that there are less than 60 days left in the year!

This week's posts were a bit eclectic. Started the week with an inspirational post on not stopping when the road bends. The next post discussed A/B Testing in the context of discount offers, followed by a post on the difference between correlation and relationship. On Wednesday, I shared a short video on the Story of Diwali followed by PUMPKIN biases on Thursday. Rounded off the week with a post on percentages vs. percentiles analysis.

LinkedIn Observations for This Week:

This week's biggest observation for LinkedIn is that it does not matter how good your content is or how hard you worked on it; if it does not resonate immediately, it will be ignored. Sadly, LinkedIn will not even let it reach your own followers. So, adjusting your own expectations of LinkedIn is critical.

The beauty of this is that while you might not get a lot of impressions on your posts, if you are active on LinkedIn and have a decent network of folks that you interact with regularly, you will get a much higher engagement ratio.

If you're aiming for just high impressions, there are particular types of posts that you can create that are almost certain to be very popular. However, if you're creating a specific brand on LinkedIn to attract potential clients or to have a thought leadership presence, it might be a question of playing the game between more impressions or more engagement and quality.

I am posting a much shorter version on LinkedIn but detailed articles with calculations, descriptions, etc. are still available on my SubStack Newsletter.

I will only be sending out the Weekly Roundup via email going forward so that you don't get overwhelmed.

Your 75% Compliance Might Still Not be Enough

Dr.Kruti Lehenbauer Nov 1

Achieving a 75% compliance rate may seem impressive, but it doesn’t guarantee that your organization is performing close to the top of its field. Understanding the difference between percentages and percentiles can provide better insights into your position relative to competitors.

Comment by Prabhakar V : Achieving compliance is just the beginning. To stay competitive, organizations must look beyond mere numbers and understand where they stand relative to peers. Percentiles tell a story of positioning of how we measure up in an evolving landscape. It’s a shift from ‘how much’ to ‘how well’ we’re performing within our industry. This perspective encourages us to set goals that push us towards leadership, not just adequacy. True growth happens when we see compliance as a floor to build from, not a ceiling to stay under.
