These paths are made by walking

There is something lovely about walking through the valley in the morning sunlight after rain.

Especially when the faintly musty nuttiness of early autumn is lightly scenting the air.

I love these green paths, and many of them are our legacy. They weren’t here when we arrived.

Yet they didn’t happen in a day, or even due to mechanical intervention.

They are made over years of walking. By us, the alpacas and the many more-than-human inhabitants of the valley.

What paths are you creating, and who will use them?

Pause. See differently. Re-story ??

~ Our paths are a mixture of following tracks laid by others and new clearings. But even the latter takes time to become a green path.

The photo and thoughts reminded me of Robert Frost, “The Road Not Taken,” and the heading stirred memories of Nancy Sinatra’s long-ago hit, “These Boots are Made for Walking.” A delight to awaken to your creative work Sue Heatherington

That is how they decided where to put in walkways in our local university: where do the students put down the most footprints.

It looks like a path trodden with care too Sue Heatherington, with its soft mantel of green.

An inspiring thought, Sue, to create your own path by walking it. This doesn't happen on a whiteboard. It literally happens on the field, not in the lab. I strongly believe that practicing in nature is the only way to go. Mimicking nature is the only sustainable and lasting blueprint.

Yeh to walking metaphorically or otherwise. Telling a story or two.
