The paths that lead through Stockholm

Normally I sit down at the weekends and do the research for the story I want to post the next week. I normally start to read about one inventor or scientist.
During my study I then realize that he was connected or inspired or so by another engineer, so I wonder, what this person did in details. Of course, we do not live in a vacuum. So it is obvious that scientists live in a legacy of the work of those who worked before them. And normally they all are special in their own way and they all deserved to be mentioned by someone looking for inspiring people in engineering. Therefore I promise you that some of the stories here will have a “follow-up” story at some time in the future.
When I thought the first time to write a weekly blog about this kind of people, my immediate idea was to write about Carl Munters. But then I hesitated, just because it was too self-evident. I worked in a way for the successor company of Munters Euroform and I was privileged to enhance his worldwide known PLASdek fill for wet cooling towers. So I’m not at all without bias concerning Carl Munters. I even can say, there is a connection between me and Carl Munters in a (probably distant) way as I described before for the people I researched myself. So I didn’t write about Carl.
But, when I started the research this week about the engineers I won’t name in this article - so I don’t give away a future story - I encountered the usual connection web and followed one of the strings attached. And ended up (this time to my full surprise) with Carl Munters. That was an aspects of his productive life, I wasn’t aware before.
So I decided, he gets his article after all. Wikipedia has a remarkably short entry about him. Through his life, he was granted more than 1000 patents, though. If you picture this, there is a lot of Carl Munters in a lot of everyday products.
Human life is very much intertwined. This becomes highlighted if you research historic figures. But the truth is, that some “spiders” in the overall web did a more enduring job of creating the silk of modern society than others. Carl Munters is clearly is one of them.
So all paths lead to Rome, but a lot of them lead you through Stockholm I suppose. I haven't been to Rome yet, but Stockholm is beautiful, especially in the summer.
