On September 26, 2024, WynHouse: An Innovation Firm , in partnership with Ohio Life Sciences (OLS), hosted a networking event focused on innovations and advancements in the Northwest Ohio (NWOH) Life Sciences ecosystem. The event highlighted emerging trends, ongoing projects, and collaborative efforts driving healthcare and life sciences forward in the region. Industry leaders from organizations such as Bon Secours Mercy Health and Spoke Design LLC gave highlights in their areas of expertise.

Ohio Life Sciences – Workforce Growth and Economic Impact

Angie McMurry , Director of Industry Engagement and Workforce at OLS, discussed the organization's mission to align Ohio’s life sciences ecosystem with workforce development initiatives, including a $5M grant for workforce strategy implementation. These efforts will enhance job training opportunities, strengthen partnerships with educational institutions, and promote talent acquisition throughout the state.

Mercy Health - Innovation in Action

Megan Reichert , Director of Innovation at Bon Secours Mercy Health, discussed the outcomes of two key projects supported by Ohio’s Third Frontier:

• Definitive Care Solutions: A successful pilot project that resulted in a 50% reduction in no-show rates for ED referrals to dental clinics, which also lowered opioid prescriptions. The team is now seeking commercialization partners to expand statewide.
• Neck Strength Measurement for Sports Medicine: The team developed a portable neck strength measurement device for sports medicine and rehab, aimed at improving injury prevention and recovery. The second prototype is in development and they are seeking executive talent and research partnerships to advance the technology.

Spoke – A New Look

W. Gene Powell from Spoke showcased their ongoing work in redesigning the OLS digital presence. He shared the importance of a cohesive digital ecosystem that unites branding and user experience to support collaboration and innovation across the life sciences community.

WynHouse – Innovation in Healthcare Technology

Mackenzie Dolacki of WynHouse emphasized the firm’s role as a transformative partner for healthcare organizations.
