In today’s busy world we need to keep things simple. These are ethical guidelines that reflect our own insight and experience set with intentions. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to practice mindfulness and receive the incredible benefits of the Five Mindfulness Trainings and integrate them into your daily practice and code of personal conduct. They work best if practiced and intended upon daily. They can be guiding principles to alleviate suffering, despair, and anxiety that we all face as human beings.
The Five Mindfulness Trainings
1. Reverence for Life
2. True Happiness
3. True Love
4. Deep Listening and Loving Speech
5. Nourishment and Healing.
In my next post, I will provide an explanation of each of the Five Trainings.
Mindfulness Tip for the day (5 min break)– Close your eyes where ever you are, at this moment, and scan your body to feel any tension, tightness or pain in your body. Start at the bottom of the soles of your feet and slowing move upward, shin area, calves, knees, upper thighs, groin, abdomen all the way to the top of your head. You may feel a surge of energy coming into your body as you do this as you have stopped the mind from careening around and reaching for past or future thoughts that bring anxiety and you will feel calm as you have connected to the present moment. Try it and see for yourself.
To your Success, Health, and Happiness,
