The Path Less Traveled

A mentor once told me the difference between marketing and sales. Marketing was attracting customers and prospects. Sales is chasing them.

The 2 need to work hand in hand. A sales person does not want to waste his or her time chasing someone who isn’t going to buy. Marketing needs sales to close the leads that they have attracted.

What is Marketing's Biggest Challenge?

There are number elements that go into a marketing strategy and campaign. However, the one question that you always need to ask: where do we find prospects that are in-market for your product or services? That is the foundation for any successful strategy.

Below is our Success Formula for any marketing strategy and campaign.

Success Formula Chart

40% of success for any strategy is Data and Right Advertising Media.

Finding that data can be a daunting and expensive task. So where do you fin the easiest, most accessible, painless, straightforward, uncomplicated, obvious, least expensive DATA?

Your customer list and network!

Your network is your net worth!

How do you want to build your business? Do you want your model to be a transactional or relationship model? Which one is the most profitable?

Now, ask yourself; what is the best tactic to build this model? This, my friend is where you take the path less traveled.

Have you heard business people say “there is no more loyalty”. I have heard this since 1978 when I first started my career. We blame the customer and prospect, not ourselves.

We don’t stay in touch! We don’t recognize events in their lives! We take it for granted that they will always stay with our product or service. We think that will always remember to refer their friends and network to you. I’m sorry, that just doesn’t happen.

To build personal relationships you need to remember:

  • Birthdays
  • Anniversaries (both personal and business)
  • Celebrate Milestones
  • Recognition
  • Staying in touch (great time to ask for a referral)
  • Thank you (another great time to ask for a referral)

What is the most impactful way to reach out and and recognize these personal events?

  • Email
  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook

It is the Path Less Traveled; Personalized cards and gifts!

When was the last time you received a card on your birthday, anniversary, or any other milestone in your life. How did you feel? Did you feel closer to that individual?

I’m not saying ignore the online tools, what I’m saying add personalized cards and gifts and you will see your business grow exponentially.

You might be asking yourself; I know this is what I should be doing, but I don’t have time of the resources to execute this model.

?What if…….I told you that there is a way I can automate the process economically.

For as little at $49.00 per month you can send out 50 personalized greeting cards, per month, one at a time, automatically.

Referrals are still the best source, both of marketing and sales, Mike. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

Simple and yet most people/companies do not do it or what is done is too mechanical... must have the right mix and feel. Thank you!
