The path less boring

Today I found a new path along the dunes, an area which I thought I knew as the back of my hand, and actually got a little bored with. I decided to take the path meant for horse riding and amazingly a very exciting route emerged. First over the track trampled on by horses, but then a smaller path ventured off towards…well I just didn’t know.

I was curious and excited to be doing something different. Where would this path lead me? Would it be a dead end? My pet hate is having to walk the same path again, so I was eagerly looking ahead for where this would go. Finally, the path merged onto a pedestrian walkway and I followed it to find out how I would be able to get back to this place via this path.

I realised it merged onto a junction of footpaths that I walked many times. Low and behold, this path was one I discounted as one that I was sure of where it led, and thought was boring. I can now see this path becoming a firm favourite for the foreseeable future.

I guess this little experience could be a metaphor for many things; careers, people and knowledge to name a few. Enjoy your path and venture off a little at times, you never know what you may find, you may come back to what you knew, but with a new perspective.

Happy to help in the process of finding a new perspective, if you would like a coaching companion on the way.
