PatentBooks Market Center for Efficient Patent Monetization and Patent Licensing
The great thing about Linked-In is that it has brought me into contact with new people and new ideas, most recently Art Nutter in Colorado Springs, USA who introduced me to a new and innovative idea for the licensing of patents. PatentBooks is Art’s solution to the challenges of patent licensing in a world of increasingly complex technologies and rapidly increasing numbers of patents.
PatentBooks is a licensing platform where patent holders can voluntary make their patents available for license to different product verticals under a single, one-click offering. Licensees can obtain a license to potentially thosands of patents through a similar one-click, on-line license agreement. The fact that PatetBooks licenses are fully retroactive removes a significant roadblock to licensing.
Licensees agree to pay a certain small percentage of their annual reveues to obtain freedom-of-action via a single licensing souce. Patent owners are compensated by PatentBooks through a simple multi-tiered revenue sharing agreement which is completely transparent.
PatentBooks does not solve all of the challenges to patent licensing for licensors and licensees, but it solves a big part of them. And it does so through a simple, easy, and quick transaction. For licensees, I see it as a sort of insurance policy that doesn’t compensate for storm damage, but prevents it from happening in the first place. For licensors I see it as an avenue to obtain a return from the investment in obtaining patents - without having to invest even more.
Jake from State Farm will need to get his game up.
