Patent Office Runaround
After pricing several law firms, I settled on one who sounded reasonable. That firm seemed to understand the concept but used all claims we knew were already patented to generate electricity. Claims were (rightly rejected). Seems the original price quoted by the lawyer counted on this, saying the mistakes could be corrected for another $350 an hour. Fired the service, and tried to fix the problem with the Patent Office myself. They told me I did not use the proper presentation form. Contacted the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. They accepted me as a client and a lawyer fixed the claims and we resubmitted. Now it is 2019 and the Patent Office claims that the illustrations are not properly described. Lawyer who helped me is no longer with the firm and I was told it would be another $2,500 to describe the illustrations properly. Patent office tells me I have two months to do this or, regardless of the value of the invention, they will consider it ABANDONED. Can anyone help?

4 年Would be tormented if I only had one invention. However I seem to invent something just about every day so torment over the loss of one (it will be put to use another way) is not in the cards. Over the last 10 years I have participated in the CREATETHEFUTUREDESIGN competition with 23 other inventions, and I have one patent to my name from 1976 and another application in the Patent Office awaiting response. Only need to succeed with one to put a team together to create efficiencies where there are just lockstep approaches to the future.
