Past, Present and Future – Idea called India

75 years of Independence – a legacy unmatched in its might, prowess and enterprise. 75 years of envisioning a capable India has not only paved the way for progress and modernity, but it has also done so while staying true to its identity. We’re a country that’s home to over a hundred unicorns and still creates space for value, tradition and culture.

As we approach our 75th Independence Day, my mind is flooded with thoughts about “the idea called India”. What makes India a great country? Why do I want to be an integral part of the story called India? What have we achieved in 75 years and what can we do in the next 25 years as we celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav?

In fact, my friends, family and colleagues shared interesting perspectives on what binds them to India - a sense of pride in being part of the India growth story, familial ecosystem, rich history & heritage like our value system to name a few. For a country that’s already gifted the world concepts like Ayurveda, the number zero and Yoga, we remain significant contributors even today.

While the last two decades have been phenomenal, the headwinds are stronger for the upcoming 25 years, and that’s thanks to the merit the government, the industry and the people see in our country. The rise of entrepreneurship, ease of business and intent is steadily changing our landscape. The EV, tech and manufacturing industries are setting the benchmark for quality and services rendered through bullet proof initiatives like Make in India.

Panasonic India has witnessed this change very closely in India and that too for 50 years. From establishing our dry cell manufacturing plant to establishing an innovation centre in the recent years, we’ve partnered in India’s growth story and aim to move forward with the same intent. Today, our focus is to enable local growth that caters to its inherent qualities while ensuring sustainable function. The PLI scheme allows for backward integration of production and Green Impact initiative by Panasonic ensures that we maintain stringent environmental standards throughout these processes.

Initiatives like the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Skill India have opened innumerable opportunities for both production and service. The logistics industry is a prime example of upskilling and creating demand. India is probably the only country that will deliver almost anything under ten minutes – something other countries fall behind on. We’re excellent at finding and utilising resources these days and the mindset is laudable.?

India’s growth story is about to create the largest footprint it ever has, and the next 25 years are going to be vital. We’ve identified local indicators; the world is soon going to notice what Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav truly means. If 75 years of independence has taught us something, it is to say that we’re capable of a growth story unlike any. So, you need to decide if you are a part of the growth story or an observer on the side lines.

Happy Independence Day.
