Yesterday, the House of Commons agreed to a unanimous consent motion to pass Bill S-203 (Federal Framework on Autism).
As MP Mike Lake shared on Twitter
"This is a huge step toward a National Autism Strategy, just in time for World Autism Month in April."
"To the countless autistic Canadians, families, and autism-focused organizations who continue to tirelessly advocate for a National Autism Strategy, take heart in the fact that your Parliament, rarely united on anything, is united alongside you today."
Today, our family attended the yearly Autism On the Hill gathering to bring awareness to the challenges Autism Families face (1st gathering since 2019 due to Covid).
We have been in attendance since our son Jean-Daniel was diagnosed, to do our part in bringing awareness to the challenges families like ours face throughout our journey. Having each province create their own framework does not ensure balance across Canada and in some cases forces families to move from one province to another to benefit from their service offering.
I'd like to thank Andrew Vignuzzi, PEng, PMP, MBA , Tony D'Alessandro, C.Dir & Joe A. for their support in my family attending this gathering.
