Passover what?

Water has turned into blood and now all of the first born are killed, if that does not get your attention, you may want to get your head examined!?It is the time to stop and remember, a New Year in the Hebrew calendar, the Passover, one of God’s appointed times and He said it should be a holy convocation, a memorial.?So, what are we remembering??

Exodus 12:14?

“Now this day will be a memorial to you and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.”?

The people of God were in bondage in Egypt and He performed many signs and wonders to deliver them out. There were 10 plagues before Pharoah would allow them to leave Egypt, which they did in haste.?

  1. The Nile River and all other water sources turned into blood, killing all fish and making the water undrinkable.
  2. Frogs - hordes of frogs covered the land, invading homes and even beds.
  3. Gnats or Lice - tiny insects that plagued the Egyptians and their animals, causing itching and irritation.
  4. Flies - swarms of flies filled the land, causing disease and death to people and animals.
  5. Diseased livestock - all the livestock of the Egyptians were struck with a deadly disease.
  6. Boils - painful skin boils and sores broke out on the people and animals of Egypt.
  7. Hail - a severe hailstorm destroyed crops, homes, and livestock.
  8. Locusts - swarms of locusts devoured what remained of the crops, leaving the land barren.
  9. Darkness - a darkness that could be felt enveloped Egypt for three days, disrupting daily life.
  10. Death of the firstborn - the most severe and devastating plague, in which every firstborn in Egypt, both human and animal, died.

Passover holds such rich historical, spiritual and symbolic significance.?Consider what “Shaul,” Paul who was a Pharisee and one of the most gifted of teachers of the time, said in?1 Corinthians 5:7-8:?

7?Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are?in fact?unleavened. For Christ our?Passover also has been sacrificed.?8?Therefore let’s?celebrate the feast,?not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.?

So who else besides Paul would have celebrated the Feast??

·?The Israelites on the night of the Exodus..- Exodus 12.?

·?The host of Israel that God commanded..- Leviticus 23

·?King Josiah.. - 2 Kings 23

·?King Hezekiah..- 2 Chronicles 30

·?In Ezra 6:19.. you see the exiles celebrating Passover

·?Yeshua (Jesus) and the disciples.. Mark 14:12, Matthew 26:20

·?Shaul (Paul) 1 Corinthians 5:7

·?Joseph and Mary.. Luke 2:41

·?All of the Jews and early followers of the Way..?

Passover is significant for the “Easter” season because it is a celebration of the fact that Yeshua is “The Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” A pure lamb was sacrificed on the night the Jews left Egypt and the plague of death skipped the families that had the blood of the animal pasted over their door posts.?The celebration of His death and resurrection is significant because he was crucified on Passover as the pure sacrifice, once and for all for all that will receive Him.?This is why there is no blood sacrifice needed today in Israel.?

Just consider when you take the cup and the bread during “communion” you are participating in the Passover meal.?His blood spilled in your place, His body was broken for you, and just as God delivered the people from bondage, He is willing to redeem and offer salvation to you.?Celebrate!?
