Passover Greetings from the DJCF
Dallas Jewish Community Foundation
Empowering your charitable vision through philanthropic innovation, collaboration, and education.
Whether you’re hosting a Passover celebration, attending a seder, or creating your own tradition to commemorate this occasion, on behalf of the team at the Dallas Jewish Community Foundation , I wish you a very happy Passover (Chag Pesach Sameach).?A Jewish mentor and woman I admire, Micaela Ezra, found on Instagram @micaela_ezra, writes beautifully about finding meaning in this season.?The below in quotations are her words, paraphrased:
“At Passover we remember the Exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt, an annual gathering in song and storytelling, and possibly one of the most ancient human rituals still practiced today (we’ve been doing this for 3,330 years!)
As we recount and remember, we strengthen the bonds between family and across generations.?We are called to feel humanity’s pain and limitations and invited to imagine the possibility of freedom.?We use our voices to remember where we came from, and to call in blessing and liberation for our collective future.”
There is great power in learning about the lives of our ancestors. One study found that children who know about their family history are more resilient, have higher self-esteem and sense of control over their lives than those who don’t.?Storytelling, remembrance, and tradition are core pillars within Jewish culture, arguably with no stronger example than that of Passover!
Here at the DJCF, this concept of legacy is central to our mission. We work closely with individuals to help craft and define the ways they want to be remembered in our community.?The Foundation's dedicated team of professionals would be honored to help you develop and execute your own legacy plan. Let’s start the conversation.?

To close with more from Micaela, “The main theme of the Passover holiday is to retell the story of the Exodus at Seder. We read specific words, we sing, question and exchange ideas… we become empowered and responsible for handing down ritual, value and narrative.”
And to that, I would add… resilience... to ensure a vibrant and strong Jewish community!
Chag Pesach Sameach,
