The Passive Income Myth-Busting Session and How to Enjoy Earning Actively From eCourses

Passive income, in my not-so-humble-opinion, gets a bad rap.

Why?

Because too many people sell the dream of sitting on a beach, all suntanned and slick, working 2 hours a week and making a bajillion dollars, by virtue of snapping your fingers.

Well, I’m sorry to pop that over-inflated bubble, but that is NOT passive income.

I don’t even know what that is other than someone’s seriously warped daydream.

As a veteran passive income expert who’s been part of a number of launches where we’ve set up systems to generate recurring revenue, here’s what I know about this online phenomenon.

Passive income doesn’t mean that you don’t need to do the work. Heck, it means you need to really dig in and do double the work so you can enjoy the benefits or big bucks later.

Passive income doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t ever have to work again in your life. It is not a set-it-and-forget-it system. You will need to work on your marketing and you will need to work on your customer service.

Passive income doesn’t mean that you’ll create an eCourse and people will flock to it in droves. Chances are if you don’t have a robust program validation and marketing system in place, you’ll launch to the not-so-sweet-sound of crickets.

So Pam, I can hear you say {along with the voices in my head}, what is passive income?

Elementary, my dear!

Passive income is earned when you make money, over and over again, for an activity {read: eCourse, eBook, workshop} that you only create once.

Passive income is earned when you work actively on your marketing so you can continue to generate buzz and revenue for your programs.

Passive income is earned when you create a program that packs a powerful punch, delivers incredible results and gets people to notice you as an expert.

Pat Flynn, who’s pretty much the father of passive income online, works harder than many of us.

I don’t see him sitting on a beach chair, claiming to work a couple of hours a week, and making money without lifting a finger.

He makes his passive income through affiliate products but he’s out there sharing those products via his insanely useful blog posts and podcasts. He’s out there marketing his brand and building his presence by sharing on social, taking the stage and speaking up a storm.

While Pat’s approach works wonderfully for him, I personally believe, you can make passive income work brilliantly for you by creating your own program and then marketing it smartly.

Passive income is the most active form of earning but you need to do it right.

The first step in doing it right is by creating a program that will sell.
