Passion or Profession: Honoring Responsibilities While Pursuing Dreams

Passion or Profession: Honoring Responsibilities While Pursuing Dreams

Today marks my 250th day since leaving my last corporate job to pursue a dream that has fueled my heart for years. It’s a milestone that fills me with immense pride and joy—a testament to the courage it takes to step out of your comfort zone and dive into the unknown.

Nine months ago, I left the security of a steady paycheck to build something meaningful—a platform designed to empower students with the life skills I wish I had learned in my formative years. The journey has been exhilarating, challenging, and deeply rewarding, teaching me lessons about passion, profession, and the responsibilities that define our lives.

The Turning Point: Passion vs. Profession

According to a Deloitte survey, while 87% of professionals believe passion drives success, only 20% feel truly passionate about their work. For years, I was among the majority, settling for stability while dreaming of something more.

In March 2024, I decided it was time to act on a dream that I had yearned to start about 10 years ago. I envisioned a program that would teach students essential skills like confidence, communication, and success habits—skills that go beyond textbooks and prepare them for real-life challenges. With that vision in mind, I took a leap of faith, leaving behind my corporate life to create a future I could be proud of.

The Journey: A Celebration of Growth

These past 250 days have been nothing short of transformative. I’m thrilled to celebrate the milestones that mark this journey:

  • Launching my company’s website, registering it under MSME, and creating a dedicated business account.
  • Delivering keynote speeches and organizing workshops across schools, impacting lives one step at a time.
  • Successfully running a program at Shishu Mandir, helping 49 students build their confidence and communication skills.
  • Reaching over 1,000 students, both online and offline, through programs designed to inspire growth and success.

Each accomplishment reminds me why I chose this path. Every workshop, every student inspired, and every small win adds to the fulfillment I’ve sought for so long. This journey is not just about achievements; it’s about the people whose lives I’ve had the privilege to touch and the purpose I feel in my heart.

Gratitude: The Wind Beneath My Wings

I owe this journey to both my supporters and my skeptics. To those who believed in me—thank you for your encouragement. To those who doubted me—thank you for fueling my resolve to succeed. Gratitude has been my anchor, reminding me to celebrate the small victories and stay resilient through challenges.

Balancing Dreams and Responsibilities

With my loved ones!

As a parent and provider, I hold my responsibilities close to my heart. My family’s well-being is my priority, and balancing this with my dream has been both humbling and empowering. To fulfill my responsibilities and ensure financial safety, I have decided to take up a job. This will allow me to provide for my loved ones while continuing to pursue my vision of empowering students.

Balancing these roles is not a compromise but a commitment—to honor my responsibilities during the weekdays while dedicating my weekends to building a meaningful future.

A Vision for Fulfillment

I dream of an education system where every child is given the platform to discover their passion early in life. History has shown us that greatness often stems from such early discoveries—whether it’s Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or Sachin Tendulkar. Imagine a world where every child is supported in exploring what they truly love. The possibilities are endless.

Life Must Be Explored

Today, I celebrate not just 250 days but the spirit of exploration, resilience, and passion. This journey is far from over. Until my last breath, this hunger to do my bit will continue. I envision a future where education empowers every child to lead a life of fulfillment, purpose, and greatness.

Life must be explored, not merely endured. And the most extraordinary paths often begin with a single step out of your comfort zone.
