Masterchef Australia is one of my absolute favourite shows to watch! It surely has been for the last few years! Now those of you who know me well, I’m not much of a foodie, but ironically if you tell me about a restaurant at one corner of the world that serves some really exciting and scrumptious dishes, I’ll be on the next flight!?
I know I know, I have no explanation for this…that’s just me!
One of the most amazing things about the show has been what I’ve learned from it overtime.?Just for reference, I’m a really good cook (at least I would like to believe so). The show has been running for over a decade and the format has been replicated in a few countries. But Australia is where it started and Australia is where the show belongs. Here are a few learnings/observations from the show that I would like to highlight:
- It doesn’t matter what professional background you come from, if you are passionate about something else and are really committed you will find your path in that field. There are so many professionals from wide range of academic backgrounds who participate in this competitive show just to outside their passion for cooking.?
- Age is just a number…Literally. It’s amusing to see participants from such varied age groups competing with each other. Even if you like to realise your passion after 50, please go ahead, the only thing stopping you, is you!
- You can be successful in what you do, and still want to navigate your path to something else. Interests can change and evolve over time, and so can opportunities!
- Difficult challenges will bring out the best in you!
- You start growing when you leave your comfort zone.
- You can be your biggest inspiration and your worst bottleneck.
- If you are determined you will witness a growth like you could have never imagined. Andy Allen is a legend. From being the winner of the fourth season of Masterchef Australia to assume his duties as the judge on the same show he won from the year 2020. He is also the proud recipient of the coveted Chefs Hat.
- Melissa Long is a star. She ticks all the boxes of what success in an unconventional career looks like. A television host, freelance food writer, radio broadcaster, critic, cookbook editor, and marketer, Melissa has done it all and how! She is surely a powerhouse as a judge on Masterchef Australia.
- The ability to walk into a competition that is unfamiliar and giving your best day in and day out is a lesson for all of us.
- The fact that successful chefs like Sarah Todd returned to the show to rediscover their craft and up skill, shows learning never ends.
- Passion, persistence and humility go a long way!
There is more to the show then I can possibly summarise, but isn’t that the case with everything around us. What’s your take on this?
