July, Indeed A Month of Perfection?
Appreciation and Gratitude is the best way to stay focused during tough times and a sure way to deliver the results you desire!
Many Christians are familiar with the scripture that says God will perfect all that concerns me.
Not many have had the time to read and reflect on the entire chapter where that very verse originated from, even though it has only 8 verses (Psalm 138).
So, when I was told to lead a prayer on the 2nd of July, 2021 to usher a select group of God’s people into the new month with specific instruction to declare that God will perfect all that concerns them, I knew I would have to say this from a place of experience, not head knowledge alone.
A similar exercise was to come days later when I was to lead a prayer on fruitfulness too.
I had one goal in mind as I set out on this task – to earn the right to make that declaration and to make it count for good (impactful).
I set aside some time to go through the entire chapter.
I watched on YouTube a couple of renowned preachers share their insights on the verse.
I realized I would have to be obedient in taking specific actions and not be hearers alone.
I followed the habits of those called “NOBLES’ the Bereans, according to Acts 17:10-12, who had the practice of not accepting everything that was said but examining the scriptures that these things they were being told were so.
I acted in ignorance, like Peter, saying nevertheless at thy word…
I finally committed the entire month into the safe keeping of God asking for his direction, guidance and leading.
I then watched to see what He would say to me… Psalm 32:8, Isaiah 30:21, Acts 27:25
From countless number of declarations, affirmations, auto-suggestions, vision boards, amongst other,
I started immediately…
Everyday, I set as a target to remember and document at least 5 things for which I am grateful to God.
I also thanked God in advance for greater things the next day.
I repeated Psalm 92:1-2 which says it is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning and his faithfulness at night.
Daily, I declared how happy and grateful I am to God for his goodness and mercies, and before you know it, I started seeing more, or rather my consciousness or awareness of his goodness and mercies rose to an elevated level and I loved it.
I looked forward to seeing them everyday even in greater measures. I Kept at it!
I saw it was working, so, whenever something good happens – I usually mime to myself the following words… It is working or that’s the favor of God, it sure follows me everyday of my life.
I declared that I have more than enough, for myself, my family and extra left over for others as captured in 2 Cor. 9:8
My pastor had used certain scriptures in the course of delivering some of his messages.
In particular, I was attracted to Habakkuk 3:17-18 which says though the fig tree may not blossom…yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
Similarly, he had shared the experiences of the Israelites when they were under a possible attack from several nations in 2 Chronicles 20 how not knowing what to do, they had resorted to praise.
This corroborates with the experience of the writer of Psalm 138 in verse 7 when he declares, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me…” before going on to say, “The Lord will perfect all that concerns me…”
I would like to say indeed the month of July was the beginning of God perfecting all that concerns me.
My experience is a testament that even though we may be going through a lot and not experiencing the best of times with the pandemic and their likes, our child-like obedience to principles could dramatically change the course of our lives and experiences.
I also would like to encourage anyone who wants to experience the tremendous power of praise, appreciation and gratitude as a catalyst in transforming the fortunes of his/her life to give it a try.
In summary, life comes down to performing at a high level on a consistent basis instead of outstanding performances just once or twice.
To achieve that repeated success and like the Bible calls it, moving from glory to glory, bearing much fruit, glorifying God and becoming the disciple of Christ, one sure way is to make sustained praise a life style despite the circumstances surrounding you.
Never let anything take away your joy – in all things give thanks.
Keep the flame of God’s praise constantly burning in your heart and life by praising him at all times.
Show forth his lovingkindness in the morning for his steadfast love never fails and his mercies new.
Declare his faithfulness at night by acknowledging at least five things for which you are grateful.
Make sustained praise a lifestyle and see God take you places you have never imagined.
This is wishing you a wonderful month and a fresh start to something bigger, bolder and much better.
