Passion: Easy to follow, Difficult to find

Passion: Easy to follow, Difficult to find

Q: I don't know what to do in life? / How to find things I am passionate about in life? / How to find what you love to do?

A: Most of us have asked these questions every now and then but couldn't find a convincing answer or a plan that is customized only for us.

Ever wondered why??

If not then, don't worry I have also sailed the same ship for most of my life, waiting for that random day when someone would wave a magic wand and I would get all the answers instantly.

But that's not how things work, Right? Not even for 'Harry potter', he also had to move to different places to figure out what he wants and what he is passionate about!!

The reason why no one was able to provide you with a convincing answer is that all this time you were just asking a generic question and that's why you were getting all the generic answers to that.

No matter how much you try, you can never find your passion in the outside world because it actually lies within you and could be easily discovered by asking the right question from yourself.

Rather than taking a generic approach, try to frame this task into a goal and use simple techniques i.e. a set process to achieve this goal like you do for all the other goals in your life. I call it a '3Is' approach to any goal:

1.) Imagination

Imagination has always been an undermined skill, but being done in the right direction could help you frame the path to your desired future. For the first step, just try to imagine the life you want to live after 1, 5, and 10 years from now, it need not be a perfect picture but an outline of what you want to be like and the things that would matter for you in the future.

2.) Inspiration

Once your wants are clear, now is the time to explore our real & reel life to map out the people who are living the same kind of life that you desire. Outline the gap between your present life and their present life and find out the differentiating parameters, which once resolved could help you bridge the gap between the two.

3.) Implementation

Now the last step is to create a practically achievable plan, which would require various small processes like introspection (to understand yourself) and investigation (to understand the person you want to follow) to draft out the parameters on a page. You can also use a decision tree (process flow) to connect the dots between these parameters and lay down the overall processes these types of people have followed and can easily select the one that suits best for you.

Practically speaking, following the above practices might not give you a clear answer to what you are looking for but would surely make you move in the right direction, which eventually would help you find what you are looking for.
