Meet Ross Edgeley
In 2018 he swam around the whole perimeter of Great Britain in 157 days – the first person to ever achieve this feat.
Sounds amazing right?
Well along the way this is what he went through:
·???????37 Jellyfish stings
·???????1792 miles covered
·???????157 days in the sea
·???????649 bananas eaten
·???????15,000 calories consumed a day
Would you be willing to go through all pain and difficulties that Ross did?
Chances are your answer is no, and for one simple reason – it does not align to something that you are passionate about or your vision for the future.
“I'm doing this challenge to encourage people to do what they love” - Ross Edgeley
Most of us (myself included) have at some point in our lives experienced a period in which life was uninspiring.
Symptoms of a passion-less life include:
It can be a difficult and lonely place to be, especially as making a change might feel like a huge risk.
But imagine if life was different. Imagine a passion-led life which meant that work never feels like work. Your actions aren’t driven by money and in fact, money is secondary to the impact you are providing. You feel excited to get up every morning and the motivation and drive energises not only yourself but everyone around you.
You might think this is an unrealistic dream that can never happen but I’m here to show that you can.
Having helped 105 clients find passion and purpose in their lives, here is the 6-step process that you could use to create a passion-led life.
The opposite feeling of boredom and demotivation is excitement and passion – start by defining what these mean to you.
If you’re stuck, consider asking yourself the following questions
"The only way to do great work is to do what you love" - Steve Jobs
2. Lean into the space
Now that you have some ideas about things that interest you, consider how you could move?closer to that space. This is not the time to be quitting jobs or going all in by any means – you have no idea if your expectations align with the reality of working or spending the majority of your time in that area.
Test your expectations and test your level of passion by immersing yourself in your area of interest to see if you enjoy the people, the culture and the opportunities.
Here is a list of ‘spaces’ in which you can consume content and interact with people associated with your areas of interest:

By utilising one or more of these sources, you can create opportunities to share your opinion and knowledge as well as meet like-minded people who are passionate about the areas that you are.?
3. Network with confidence
The chances are that by dedicating time to areas that interest you, you will come across professional and business owners who have created a career or business from the same passions you have!
Once you do, do not let that opportunity pass! Take the courage to reach out to them and invite them into a conversation over the phone or virtually, to learn more about their journey and their story.
Once you are able to understand the steps someone else has taken to find their path, it will give you the confidence and direction to make it happen for yourself.
Many people that you will reach out to will remember the struggles they had when they started and will be more than willing to offer some advice.?
4. Get stuck in!
By immersing yourself in the space and speaking to professionals ahead of the curve, now is the time to start creating some evidence of your knowledge and experience.
If you enjoy writing, start creating articles or blog posts about topics that interest you.
If you enjoy speaking, create YouTube videos or a podcast documenting your knowledge.
If you have a creative pursuit, then start showcasing your work through social media.
If your passion involves providing a service, you could even consider using freelance applications like Fiverr and Upwork to start delivering a service.
The key is to create an experience in a field where you previously don’t have any. Going through the process of creating a track record will improve your capabilities as well as showing some level of experience to others.
5. Create a track record
There is no point doing something if there is nothing to show for it – so now is the time to start creating a body of evidence that you can leverage into paid opportunities.
A passion that aligns with a new job can be evidenced by a CV, Covering Letter and LinkedIn profile.
A passion that aligns with a product can be evidenced by customer reviews.
A passion that aligns with a service can be evidenced by case studies.?
These are only some of the many ways that others will be able to know what you do and more importantly, see your value!
6. Become a professional
This is the final stage and also the most exciting one!
When you have made it to this stage then the decision is truly yours as to how far and how ambitious you would like to take your newfound experiences and passion.
Could you see yourself turning this into a career with an established company? Or maybe you could create a company of your own. The spectrum of professional work is broad and whatever your goal is, there is a niche for you to combine your passion with your work and find true fulfilment.
If you’re inspired by the idea of finding and creating a more passion-led life, I would love to hear from you.
Let’s create more excitement in your life!
