The passing of our founder and my father David Fuller
Sadly I share the news with you that my father, David Fuller, Chairman and Founder of NEPEAN, passed away on Saturday, 9 February 2019.
David achieved so much in one life-time. He impacted many people’s lives, professionally and personally.
We are immensely proud of the life he led and the legacy he created.
He was an incredible businessman, a remarkable Australian, and loving father. He started NEPEAN 45 years ago as a small tool-making business, and as a result of his incredible entrepreneurship and leadership he created Australia’s leading privately owned engineering, mining services, and industrial manufacturing organisation. We have continued David’s legacy, and today NEPEAN operates across six continents, employs over 1200 people, and distributes products to over 65 countries.
David was a highly successful entrepreneur, investor, developer, builder and industrialist.
David was loved and respected by the people who worked with him. I have been touched by the memories that our people have shared with me in the past week. A lot of people who know David through business would think of his tough and direct character, his relentless focus, his drive, his pragmatism, and his no-nonsense style. David showed genuine care for NEPEAN’s families, helped people achieve their personal goals outside of work, took an interest in individuals, and never forgot a name. People loved David because he was a great man with a huge heart.
David has had the biggest impact on my life and shaped my values and life purpose. He imparted on me the importance of leadership, tenacity, loyalty, being a good father, building successful relationships, focussing on the fundamentals of business, and inspiring others. I speak for everyone at NEPEAN when I say I am proud to be part of the significant and substantial organisation that he founded, and I am proud to continue his legacy.
David is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Lyndall. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Miles (Jen), Suellen (Andrew), and Camille (Churro). David will also be fondly remembered by his grand-children Savannah, Sienna, Ellie, Summer, Chloe, Balti, Paloma, and Santi.
“He was a hardworking, modest, funny, self-made man, generous to others, a known philanthropist , a rotary Paul Harris Fellow, a successful race horse breeder, and a loving , well-loved family man” Lyndall Fuller
A funeral service and celebration of David’s lifetime will be held on Friday 15th Feb at 10.30am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, John Street, Camden, followed by a wake at Belgenny Farm, Camden South.
