Passing the Baton
After 6+ wonderful years, I'll be leaving Demandbase at the end of January. I have so many incredible memories of my time at Demandbase, I won't try to list them here. But partnering with Chris Golec to create and lead the ABM category is clearly a career highpoint. A lot of companies talk about creating a category, but few actually accomplish it. I feel incredibly fortunate to have played a role in that journey.
When I joined Demandbase in March, 2014, I was lucky enough to take the baton from a talented group of marketing and sales leaders who preceded me. Each of them has gone on to do incredible things in martech and other industries. And now I'm handing the baton to the next group of leaders. That's how great companies operate, and Demandbase is truly a great company. As part of that transition, Jon Miller, co-founder of Marketo, and founder of Engagio, will be expanding his role as Chief Product Officer to become CMO as well. Jon has a stellar reputation throughout the industry, so he's an ideal leader to take the baton from me. Also with Demandbase coming off a Q4 that was by far the biggest in our history, we are running at a full sprint as that baton is passed.
As I depart, I'll give a special shout out to Chris, who recognized before anyone that the old model of marketing was broken, and that taking an account-based approach would be the future. Also, thank you to our outstanding Demandbase Board. I can't imagine working with a more supportive group. Your guidance and passion has been instrumental in our success.
And finally, thanks to the Demandbase marketing and sales teams- past and present. I've been fortunate enough to work with the best people in the industry and I've learned so much from all of you. You made coming to work (when that was a thing) a joy, every day.
