Passing into the Back foot

I may be completely wrong here and people will say differently but in my opinion this goal shows the value of passing into the back foot rather than ahead of the player.

Not sure if this is an accident, fluke or pep specific coaching but its some passage of play and goal !!

Virtually every pass (bar a long ball early on) is into and taken on the back foot of a city player (with exception of Delph at times who is right footed playing on the left) which then allows the player to then make their own decision.

If the ball is played ahead of the player, particularly in the wide areas, chances are the City player will only have one option in running forward and likely a defender alongside to close him down.

The benefit of passing and taking on the back foot is it allows the player options of going forward in a 1v1, passing inside to a supporting paying or going backwards enabling the team to open up and switch play.
