The farmers have really worked hard to grow their organic vegetables , spices & fruits for the winter season.
Most of the winter vegetables are going to be ready soon for harvesting.
How do we celebrate the harvesting season of the Winter crops ...
Tomatoes ... We can make Tomato Soup at the farm by using our own farm grown Tomatoes, Coriander & ginger. You may use a few herbs if you grow them. Fresh Tomato juice is the best ingredient for a Virgin or Bloody Mary.
We intend to make a Tomato powder which will add colour & a Zing to our Butter chicken, paneer & Dal Makhani.
Potatoes ... can be used to make fries or can even be used in a BBQ.
Mustard ... You can make the popular Sarson Ka Saag & even extract mustard oil. We use mustard oil extensively in our cooking. Mustard oil is also used in Mustard Maach , a Bengali fish delicacy.
Mint... can be used to prepare Chutneys & can be used in preparing refreshing drinks.
Chillies ... Try growing chillies from Sikkim, Bhut Jolokia, Guntur chillies & more ...
Aparajita ... can be used to make the famous Blue tea.
Salads can be prepared from your carrots, radish, Onions , Cabbage & Salad leaves if you grow them. You may use an array of more vegetables like Beetroots, Peas, Garlic, Brinjals & capsicum to make delicious vegetarian food. Lemons come handy everywhere.
I am looking forward to make my own Jaggery with sugarcane juice this winters.
Lastly it is a perfect time for your BBQs & Bonfires.
