Party Now..., Die Tomorrow.

The second wave of the Coronavirus is surging with mounting mass of the young people (22-44 years) who believe they are invincible. Young people are crowding bars, restaurants, parks, and beaches… repercussing into a second wave cascading, and spiking the Covid-19 infections. Congregations inside the closed space like bars are bad news. Indubitably, even the young are NOT invulnerable. They are getting infected and spreading disease. And dying… Perhaps the idle and unemployed young Americans are desperately seeking comfort and existential meaning by mingling with others and partying for the moment…  Young Americans are rebelling against the Wuhan coronavirus induced lockdown. Assuredly, joblessness, and non-productive activities for the able and restless young Americans forecast looming trouble. Not good. Some, and many opportunistic delusional extremists, will turn to riots and demonstrations as nearly half of the American willing and ready, employable workers explode in anger. And this Fourth of July may be the acid test for the future of American independence and prosperity. God bless America.

SMS’ Highlights of the week of 2020 (June 28 – July 3, 2020)

1.  Invincible Young...?        You are young, you are invincible, you do not think it is going to happen to you, but it happens to you. Yes, younger people are far less likely to die from Covid-19 than those 65 and older. But they will infect old and vulnerable. Well, Covid-19 is increasingly becoming a disease of the young. The dropping age of the infected is becoming one of the most pressing problems for local officials, who continue with setting curfews and closing places where the young gather. U.S. health experts say that they are more likely to be active and asymptomatic, providing a vast redoubt for the coronavirus that has killed nearly 130,000 Americans. In Arizona, half of all positive cases are people from the ages of 20 to 44. The median age in Florida is 37, down from 65 in March. In Texas’s Hays County, people in their 20s make up 50% of the victims. Well as Miami Beach instituted a 12:30 a.m. curfew, California closed restaurants, bars, museums, and movie theaters in 19 counties, including Los Angeles. And, Arizona and Texas had already closed their bars. Madison, Wisconsin, and surrounding Dane County did the same following a surge in cases. Gathering in bars is a concern because groups of people mix, bars are often loud spaces that require loud talking to communicate (which can spread infectious droplets farther), alcohol impairs the judgment. Packed clubs and high-school agers are obvious dangers. But many cooped-up people in their late teens and 20s have engaged in what they thought were lower-risk activities only to be unpleasantly surprised.  Be careful America. Stay healthy. Live a long life.

2.  No Job--Half USA.     The unemployment rate is at 11.1% and the month of June added 4.8 million jobs. Many are celebrating.  But nearly half the U.S. population is without a job, showing how far the labor recovery must go.  The employment-population ratio, the number of employed people as a percentage of the U.S. adult population, plunged to 52.8% in May, meaning 47.2% of Americans are jobless. As the coronavirus-induced shutdown tore through the labor market, the share of the population employed dropped sharply from a recent high of 61.2% in January, farther away from a post-war record of 64.7% in 2000. “To get the employment-to-population ratio back to where it was at its peak in 2000 the USA need to create 30 million jobs, according to Torsten Slok, Deutsche Bank’s chief economist. Investors will look to this week’s June jobs report for an update on the pace of the labor market recovery. Nearly half of the population is still out of a job. Idle and unemployed young people forecast trouble.

3.  Independence.         The free American spirit is deeply imbedded with independence and liberty.   The Fourth of July, or Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, and July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades, and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. However, this Fourth of July weekend many parades and fireworks display canceled, beaches and bars closed, as health authorities warn that this will be a crucial test of Americans’ self-control that could determine the trajectory of the surging coronavirus outbreak. And, with confirmed Wuhan virus cases climbing in 40 states, governors have ordered the wearing of masks in public, and families are urged to celebrate their independence at home.  Health experts see this will be a pivotal moment in determining whether the nation slides into a deeper mess, fueling the Corvid-19 surge. Be careful. Be vigilant. Stay alive to celebrate many more Independence Day celebration. The U.S.A. is the best and beacon of freedom for the world. Stay strong and stay healthy America.

Global Coronavirus status as of 7-3-2020:  10,950,000+ cases; 523,100+ dead;  US cases: 2,767,700+; US Dead: 129,200+  Details @: https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
