Some things never change. People enjoy getting together for happy hour and have done so for nearly as long as people have been people.
The drinking straws mentioned are about 5,000 years old which means that the beer being imbibed was invented earlier.
The collection of eight straws plus a jar/jug/mesogrowler suggests beer drinking was a social activity.
