Celebrating 1 Year of ChatGPT

No Doubt, we are moving into the Age of AI in leaps and bounds.

Last year, on the 30th of November, 2023, we got a glimpse of the possibilities of generative AI with ChatGPT 3.5, transforming how we, as users and leaders, perceive and interact with AI in our daily lives. On the 29th of November 2022, there was no straightforward interface to input a "prompt"—a query, a demand, a sample, or a piece of text—and receive a comprehensive reply almost instantly. Discussions about "AI" were absent among families, friends, and colleagues. My colleagues who work with AI teased me about my obsession with Generative AI.

The world changed.

As a community, we did not. AI shifted from the dunting world of data science, hollowed halls of universities, and Silicon Valley start-ups to 100m downloads ChatGPTs in the first 30 days.

Last year, on the heels of the release of ChatGPT 3.5, I committed to my LinkedIn followers to write "The 12 Days of AI" blog series each December for the next three years as an annual time capsule capturing firsthand AI advancements and providing you with a front-row seat to witness the journey of AI from its nascent stages to its current, more practical applications. My commitment was simple: content, artwork, and creation will all be generated using available AI.

I ended last year's "12 Days of AI" with these predictions:

·?? ?Generative AI is ready for prime time; AI is Everywhere.

·?? ??♀?Enterprise IT will die- as AI adoption continues to outpace moribund IT policies. Companies adopting AI as a strategy will supersede companies clinging to legacy operating models; I missed this one, but it is more about timing.

·?? ?It's not the big that kills the small – it's the fast that kills the slow.

At the time, last year's predictions seemed like lofty claims and puffery. This year, after the ChatGPT boardroom drama, my predictions seem pedestrian. We are in the age of AI. I will assuredly be more bullish this time around.
