Partner-in-Education Award: Regent Secondary School Awards Day 2018
Honored and humbled to receive Partner-in-Education Award from Regent Secondary School.
I started this journey 5 years ago to pass on the message that hereditary and given factors are static but education and commercial success are dynamic. It is often hard to believe without seeing the real stories, especially for students from lower-tier schools. That is why I make it a point to return to my alma mater to share my story with juniors every year, hoping that I can give that little push to someone I interact with.
Since then, my sharing and programs transited from ‘why’ pursue education to ‘how’ to excel in education and recently being part of Career Day to shed some light on career choices and what it takes to be there. My strength also multiplied as I sit in the Executive Committee of Regent Alumni Club gathering people who share the same mission to encourage students to chase excellence.
Unknowingly, I have interacted with >3,000 students over the years. I am exceptionally fortunate to have students coming to me, a few years later for some, that I changed their lives. My most heartwarming feedback was: “I want to be like Randy next time. Come back and inspire my juniorsâ€.
For the last 5 years, it has been my greatest privilege to give back to the school. I am exceptionally grateful to receive Partner-in-Education Award and thankful to Mdm Pang and other teachers for making this possible.
We are planning for more programs and events. Stay tuned!
PS: As I am writing this post, I can resonate with Ong Ye Kung’s statement of ‘Social stratification is starting to become entrenched’. Article here. We all have a part to play in bridging this gap.
