Of Parties and Kittens
It's been a busy weekend.
First I was the surprise wedding gift from Donna to her husband Ray (Quick fire trick)
Then back for the second year at a corporate fun day (Reactions - contains guest swearing)
Then Eve's 21st birthday party (her parents had seen me at another event)
Finally back to entertain the Baldings for the third time (second time this summer)
Each of these events makes me think of our rescue kitten Tinks.
When we first got him he hid....but now he rushes out to play. In the same way every party has guests who are little reserved but who, when I encourage them, when they feel safe, their joy burns brightly.
Second, you have to adapt to the kitten (or he'll run away) similarly adapting to the guests is important (or you don't get the great reactions). Banter makes a big difference.
Third you have to treat a kitten with care and respect. In my professional context respect can mean not taking photos for social media. Not only are there no photos from Eve's 21st I didn't even ask if I could take them... it wasn't the time or place. The only reason I have the photo of Clare (Balding) is because I asked for permission to take it and use it.
Lastly as with a kitten if you do a good job and make an emotional connection people will want to see you again.

Donna and Ray's wedding was at MacDonald Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa - where I am a recommended supplier.
The corporate fun day was my second time - they had me last year too
Eve's 21st was because they knew me from another party
The Baldings have hired me 3 times, twice in the last few weeks.
Adapt. Connect. Respect. Magic.
