Particle size of recarburizer
The melting point of graphite in the recarburizer is as high as 3527℃. It is impossible to melt in the molten iron. It can only enter the molten iron through melting and diffusion after the recarburizer is completely infiltrated by the molten iron, and is supersaturated at the interface between the recarburizer and the molten iron. The carbon is precipitated in the form of graphite and melted into the molten iron, forming carbon atom groups and carbon molecular clusters in the molten iron. The conversion time changes, the graphitic carbon continuously dissolves in the molten iron and diffuses to form a carbon increase mechanism; therefore, the carbon increase of the molten iron The process is the continuous dissolution and diffusion of the recarburizer in the molten iron, and of course its oxidation burn loss process; the size of the recarburizer is different, and the rate of dissolution, decomposition and oxidation burn loss is also different.
Under normal circumstances, large particles of recarburizer have a slow dissolution rate and a small burn loss; small particles have a fast dissolution and large burn loss; therefore, the particle size of the recarburizer should be selected according to the size and capacity of the smelting furnace. Someone recommends the selection range: electric furnace capacity (tons) ≤11~33~10 recarburizer particles (mm) 0.5~2.52.5~55.0~20
