Participation - Winning & Loosing: Learnings

Participation - Winning & Loosing: Learnings

I just wanted to share my perspective which you all might have read and experienced or even disagree. Feel free to express. No judgements!

Recently, we had IKP Knowledge Park Foundation Day celebrations in the Genome valley that included Games, Sports and various events which attracted participation of 700+ members. Undoubtedly, participation as Teams and coordination for various activities and dealing with people with different degrees of skills is a great learning. One thing I starkly noticed is the teams that failed to be in the winning list had multiple rounds of discussions and introspections and even planned how they should be doing next year? This is an amazing achievement. The learning of Loosing as a team gives more opportunities to improve than winning team and a different level of binding happens. In contrast to Video games where Instant gratification of winning and going to next level with less difficulties makes it addictive but not a real learning but that's how we Humans react when they feel that achieved something but actually nothing much is learnt. Sometimes a few winning teams do transform and we see wonders.

In the #shortterm , winning certainly helps with confidence, only word of caution is to look carefully for mistakes that would have been fatal. In the long run, a few early losses certainly prepares us for future eventualities and better understanding of team strengths and weakness and help us identify team members who can let us sleep when they are driving. I am not referring to #indiancricketteam , I only watch cricket highlights and enjoy both sides.

Leaving you with some colorful images and a quote I had seen - something like - "LIFE IS ABOUT USING ALL COLORS, BE CREATIVE " World is a CANVAS and Your Limitation is Only Limited by Your Imagination!

I really agree with you completely. One thing that I would like to highlight is that there has to be an attitude of learning rather than looking for scape goats to put the blame for failure.
