Participants Needed for Memorial Day Parade

We have 2 weeks until Memorial Day,?an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2022 will occur on Monday, May 30.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.

The Genesis Group is working with the Utica Center for Development and the City of Utica to host a parade on May 30 at 10am on Genesee Street.

But we can't do it alone. We invite community groups, marching bands, sports teams, veterans, military groups, churches, law enforcement, fire-fighters, essential workers and even vehicles. Yes, that's right....show off a sports car, a classic car or utility vehicle. There is no fee to participate.

We encourage residents from across the Mohawk Valley to march in Utica's Memorial Day parade. Let's come together as a community to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
