Part XVI. October 28, 2024. Transitions. Reflections from (what I hope is) a Social Impact Thoughtful Mentor.
Purpose. My purpose is to support people and organizations as they seek to do good, better - especially during periods of transitions. Please reach out if you need support or if you are are seeking to find and align your personal and corporate purpose!
Coaching Support. I've really been enjoying coaching, on a more formal basis, it's something I've had the pleasure to do my whole career. Special thank you to Josée Thibault, MCM for sharing this testimonial.
"I have relied on Allyson's as a coach at several pivotal points in my life, most recently when I was contemplating a significant career pivot. Allyson has a remarkable ability to help you cut through the noise, zero in on what is important to you, and then align actions to desired results. I always felt in the driver's seat throughout our?coaching relationship, but felt immeasurably more confident in my ability to articulate for myself what I wanted and what I needed, and then to go after what was possible. Allyson approaches coaching with tremendous warmth and empathy, but balanced with a clear eyed, no nonsense perspective. Moments of clarity guaranteed!"

#2. The Partnership Conference 2024 . Highlights of Day One. Please note: my clients will receive a full briefing on this event that is customized to their interest and needs in the world of corporate/ nonprofit partnerships.
A few key takeaways, and places to get more information.
Pete Bombaci founder of GenWell kicked us off with a lively presentation on the power of a more connected Canada for the benefit of all. We all know the negative impacts of lonlieness and Pete reminded us that "disconnection is the opposite of belonging". To find out more about GenWell and how you can join Canada's human connection movement, check out their website here .
Martha Hancock CBSR and Monica Da Ponte Shift & Build highlighted the Stanford Social Innovation Review article by Mark Kramer and Steve Phillips Where Strategic Philanthropy Went Wrong , Summer 2024 (which also has its critics ) by focussing on sustainable procurement - a key lever of change that is often ignored.
Jason Saul Lauren Ott of Impact Genome and Leanne Nicolle (formerly of BBBS) spoke about the pressure to produce social impact metrics and the tools that can make it more accessible for nonprofits via third party verification.
Nathan Froelich of Blackbaud . Despite his "controversial" opening statements, Nathan, encouraged mutual business metrics between companies and nonprofits - to use clear indicators of how each partner helped the other succeed.
Jason Chapnik and Randi Chapnik Myers spoke about the free e-learning resources available through Open World Learning (OWL ) via Intercap Inc. Check it out if you are offering or seeking to take e-learning.
Three women corporate social impact leaders, Andrea C Barrack of RBC , Kory McDonald of Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. and Catherine Meade MA, LLB, MBA of OLG spoke with humility, vulnerability and authenticity as they addressed tough questions about the companies where they work. See post by Vinod Rajasekaran on his talk with Catherine.
My friend and colleague Maureen Young took us on the purpose-driven journey of Coast Capital Savings which has been a real leader in the purpose economy, driven by both personal and professional motivations. Describing how they moved from CSR to purpose, Maureen urged us to not be afraid to end what doesn't serve us.
Thanks again to Brad Offman Spire Philanthropy for his leadership and hard work, along with his colleagues, in making this event happen!
Day Two highlights coming in a subsequent post
