Part of the Team
Today's devotional is from A Daily Taste of Proverbs
“These are the proverbs of Solomon, copied by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah” - 25:1.
God gave Solomon the wisdom he asked for and people from all over the world came to hear him lecture. Then at some point, some men decided to record and preserve his wisdom. They did not remain anonymous/ In today's verse, we find out who they were. For God's work to be done, He must use people and that includes you. It's good to be humble, but you can still talk about who you are, what you can do, and what you have done to advance God's kingdom.
Are you willing for God to use your name and face, like Solomon, to accomplish His purposes? Can you surrender your desire for privacy to Him? Can you take a subsidiary role like the men of Hezekiah and be content that you are an important part of the team? Jesus was a public figure and you can read about how busy He was in Mark 3:20-22. Remember that His disciples were right there with them and later, some of them recorded His wisdom as these men did Solomon's.
