The event featured an engaging keynote and Q&A with actor, musician, and patient safety advocate Dennis Quaid, and brought together healthcare leaders to celebrate and support the healing mission of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. We’re excited to share that the Tennessee Board of Nursing has approved student nurse apprenticeship as a pathway to nursing! Apprenticeship opens the door to the nursing profession for aspiring nurses who will now be able to complete their nursing education while gaining hands-on, paid experience. THA will be registering an RN and LPN apprenticeship program based on the taskforce’s work this year. Thank you to the governmental, educational, and hospital stakeholder members of the taskforce that spearheaded this year-long effort, and a very special thank you to Dr. Ferrol Thomas for leading the charge. Today is Rural Health Day and THA celebrates rural hospitals for their commitment to providing essential healthcare in their communities and ensuring that underserved populations receive a wide range of healthcare services. THA joins the American Hospital Association in recognizing rural hospitals and staff for all they do. Rural hospitals strengthen communities every day by providing: -Emergency services: Rural hospitals play a critical role in emergency response and stabilization. -Economic impact: Rural hospitals contribute significantly to local economies by creating jobs and supporting local businesses. -Access to care: Rural hospitals are often the only healthcare facility within miles and are vital to the health of their communities. THA supports rural hospitals through advocacy efforts and workforce development initiatives.
