Part of Something Historic

I love history. The stories of human endeavour, achievement and wickedness hold great lessons on what it is to be human. The godlike and beastial. What stands out in most stories, is that the participants had no idea they were making history. They were living their lives day to day, like we do. Yet they were part of the evolution of societies and nations. Sometimes hinging history on a single moment and sometimes being part of tide of behaviour that brought huge changes.
It is my believe that we are part history today. The godlike and the beastial. In the beastial we threaten our very existence, by using up and wearing out the earth. But our technology is truly godlike. The internet is the tree of knowledge. It disseminates information with immediacy. How many things have I learnt to do by watching a YouTube clip! One grumble I have; the death of the beery pub debate. An evenings humorous debate ruined by reference to Google. It is about knowledge, its distribution and use.
In the workplace Unified Collaborative Communications (UCC), provides resource rich multi-party working using every form of communications technology. Whilst the 'traditional' businesses are still trying to align diaries, those using these history making technologies have conferenced, delegated tasks, reformed and concluded. The average length of time a company remained in the Fortune 500 was 75 years. It is now 25. The message is clear, it is a message history will tell, evolve with technology or call in the office clearance company. Knowledge is power.
