As part of our #100hombresjovenesdecolor or our #100YoungMenOfColor – please join The Mauricio Gaston Institute for Latino Community Development and Public Policy in celebrating Miguel Jose GarciaZuniga, 5'7, 165 lbs. He is Mexican American, and the word, Salubrious – health-giving or healthy- is an appropriate description for Miguel. Miguel is passionate about the well-being of friends and family, and by the way, Miguel is in perfect physical shape and is a penultimate example for all young men of color to observe.
Miguel says, "Who says we cannot be doctors, engineers, nurses, physician assistants, successful entrepreneurs, and the list goes on with many of the professions we do not see our people in. Do not settle for less; always strive for success because at the end of the day, what you think you can do, is usually what you accomplish. My advice to the younger minority generation is to think big, work hard, stay dedicated, and you will break all stereotypes."??
Additionally, he is an undergraduate at UMASS Boston, and his major is biology with a Psychology minor. His GPA is 3.71; He is en route to graduate in Spring 2023 - Miguel plans to become a surgeon and Ph.D., researching prostate cancer. Miguel is a My Brother's Keeper cohort, he is a Ronald E. McNair scholar candidate, and he is Secretary for the Physician Assistants organization on campus. His favorite food is "Gringas AL pastor Tacos," with melted cheese. His hobbies are Tae Kwando, running, meditation, and anything athletic. What makes him happy is food, nature, friends & family, and God. What makes him sad – "Seeing other brothers who do not want to help out their parents." He is one to watch as he is on the rise to do great things for our communities here and abroad. Miguel, we celebrate you today and every day as our 36th #100hombresjovenesdecolor?#100YoungMenOfColor celebrant.??
