Part II: Practice Like a PRO – Tips Six Through Ten of 20 Ways to Rehearse Your Presentation

PRACTICE BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND PROFITS.

Below you will find presentation rehearsal techniques (# 6-10) to build your confidence.

This method of rehearsal is guaranteed to break through your mental glass ceiling. If you play full-out, you will never be concerned with what other people think and will never be boring again.

WARNING: NO HALF-ASSING IT!?If you are not committed to playing full-out on this technique, just move on to the next one. Most people can’t handle this tip.

“To know what is enough, you must experience what is too much. After you’ve gone ‘over the top,’ you’ll naturally dial it down.”?– Josie Adams.

What you will need:

  • Content that needs energy, you think is boring, or you’re not excited about delivering.
  • A Rehearsal Buddy
  • Timer
  • A willingness to play full-out and not be concerned with what other people think. If you can’t or won’t do this, this technique will not work. The only thing stopping you is you!

How it Works:

  1. Content: 5 minutes worth of content to be delivered aloud.
  2. Timer: Set the timer for 5 minutes, with the first alarm at 2.5 minutes.
  3. Mindset: Pretend you are:

  • The half-time entertainment for a professional football championship game (Legally, I’m not allowed to use the phrase Super B__L), or
  • The opening act, at a stadium, of your favorite band!
  • A Tik-Tok Influencer

4. Delivery: You are to deliver your content 100% Over the Top! Pretend you are a Rock-Star. Pound the Walls! Jump on Tables! Play air-guitar! Go utterly wild as you deliver this content.?Deliver this content in a way that you would never think of doing.

5. Rehearsal Buddy: Their role is to encourage you to leave your comfort Zone! If you are half-assing it, their job is to push you further from your comfort zone. Don’t worry about looking bad or what others think.?Your breakthrough is more critical than your embarrassment.?They are to demand more of you, and you are to comply.

6. At 2.5 minutes, the Rehearsal Buddy says, “normal.” At this point, you deliver the remaining content as you usually would.

“Here is what others have said about this approach?”

  • They naturally dial it down.
  • According to their peers, they present at the appropriate energy level.
  • It’s memorable!
  • The ‘soft talkers’ come out of their shells and project!
  • Presenters have more confidence!
  • They deliver better.
  • They make better word choices – their vocabulary is better.
  • It loosens them up.
  • It’s transformational.?People are amazed at what they can do.

Use of the Stage. Unlike TED talks, you can use the entire stage to help the audience follow the story. Generally,?Stage Right?(the audience’s left) is the past or history.?Stage Left?(the audience’s right) is the future.?Center Stage?is considered the power position.?Anything you want the audience to remember, move to center stage. However, these are guidelines. They are not rules written in stone but rather artistic choices. Use your best judgment under all circumstances.

Practice as you play.?This expression is a sports aphorism. It means rehearsing your presentation as if you were giving it live.

Schedule a specific number of rehearsals.?Decide how many times you will practice your presentation (5 to 10) and push through.

Power through mistakes.?Don’t stop when you make a mistake. Roll through them and continue to the end.??Since you are recording, you can identify the parts where you made mistakes and work on these sections.
