So, step 2. The concept has been presented to the client and the storyline has been locked. Also, the customer journey has been developed. It is time to finalize the concepts and step into the next design phase. Together with the architects, the process continues by transforming the artist renders into their respective schematic designs.
For the Movie Park Studio Tour design, the experience included a thrilling roller coaster full of special effects. In order to find the perfect coaster, a few renowned ride manufacturers were asked to provide a ride design that matched the concept and storyline of the experience.
After a thorough selection, Intamin came out on top. They were able to deliver a ride design that suited the experience's flow at its best! Keeping in mind that the coaster would be built in an existing environment, the architects went to work on a full blueprint in line with the ride concept. All elements, such as the existing building with its columns and the track footprint, were then seamlessly integrated into a schematic drawing package.
During the process, the team had to navigate through various challenges, which in turn led to great new discoveries. Some of the building's columns initially seemed to be in the way, but after investigation, using an extensive 3D model, they were found to provide beautiful sight lines, which had not surfaced in the earlier process.
Next week, in the last part of this series, you will read more about the detailed design development and realization phase! Enjoy the read, enjoy the ride!
