Part 107 in the Insitu BLOG
In the latest BLOG post from Insitu I contribute my thoughts on where Part 107 might evolve, and what it means to companies that make up the professional aviation ecosystem, large and small. See this entry and other interesting articles about our industry here:

8 年Opens up what I thought would be the next great surge, something that will fit in the trunk of a police cruiser. In terms of real commercial impact, model airplane work is not the stuff businesses are made of, but 107 does address the issue of keeping these small aircraft under control and not a threat to the public or manned aircraft. For those things that the UAS community has claimed is the forefront of unmanned systems technology, those things that are dumb, dirty or dangerous or exceed the capability of human systems, 107 really answers very few questions. If the FAA can streamline the introduction of larger systems into the National Airspace System as effectively, then we will have something that will indeed impact the gross national product. Other countries like Australia and Canada have managed to pass something in a two year period and get on with it, but they are not as politically oriented as our bureaucracies. While I am heartened at the progress, I am reminded that I went to my first meeting on operating unmanned systems in the NAS in 1988. But progress is progress. Let's keep it going!
