Summer is here and we’re officially halfway through the year!

We’ve been as busy as ever here at Birchwood Park, take a look at our latest edition of our Parklife newsletter and see what we’ve been up to this past month.


DuckFest

DuckFest 2024

  • 2024 was our most successful year yet, thank you to everyone who joined us or took part in DuckFest2024. We raised over £4,000 for our community partner,?Peace & Mind UK.

  • Congratulations to our Duck Fest winners for 2024! Duck Race – Duck 85 –Oakley Whalley; Corporate Duck Race – Tradebe; Best Dressed Corporate Duck – Goodlife Recruitment; Best Dressed Under 16s – Corey Hardy (Duckwin Nunez); Best Dressed Under 8s – Duck 81 – Nick Sorton (Fletcher age 5); Best Dressed 16+ – Duck 93 – Katrina Bevan (Captain Quack Sparrow)

  • Our first ever engineered duck race was a success! Congratulations to Eden who won with his rocket propelled duck and a shoutout to our occupiers Tenet Consultants who closely followed.

Top moments at the Park

  • Miller Homes’ North West team raised over £7,900 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital: Through its participation in the company’s ‘Active April’ charity challenge, The team, headquartered on the Park raised an impressive £7,962 for their chosen charity.

  • The return of Salsa Dance Cheshire: Mike and Suzanne from Salsa Dance Cheshire held a wonderful evening of Latin dancing at the EngineRooms earlier this month. Don’t forget to mark your diaries for the next event in September

  • Jacobs’ Micro ROV testing: Did you see occupiers, Jacobs test out their Micro ROV in the lake last month? Small-sized ROVs play a significant role in enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in numerous industries.   • International Women in Engineering Day, 2024: Sunday, June 23rd marks IWIED. Take a look at our website, where we honour the remarkable women engineers who are driving innovation and excellence at businesses here on Birchwood Park and beyond.

  • Birchwood Park occupiers, NNA held its Nuclear Skills Panel Discussion and Q&A in Manchester last week. Hot on the heels of the recent publication by Government of the Nuclear Skills Plan and the associated Skills Charter, the NNA’s Skills and Capability Sub-Group held the event to look in more detail at what this means for the industry in the region

  • The Warrington Business Exchange teamed up with leading tech publication BusinessCloud to stage a bespoke business breakfast in The EngineRooms – ‘AI innovators – how artificial intelligence is changing life as we know it’

  • Did you see that we were featured in the latest issue of the Nuclear Institute journal, “Nuclear Future”. Discussing Birchwood Park’s rich history and the work of some of our amazing occupiers, the feature is available to read here

Major news from the Park

Live Lunches are back:

  • Our regular live lunch is back every Thursday lunch time at the EngineRooms.
  • Taking place every Thursday from 12pm- 2pm, come along and enjoy the live sessions with our range of DJ, acoustic and singer sets. A great way to wind down ready for the weekend!

Summer Fun Run:

  • The Park’s Summer Fun Run returned to Birchwood Park on June 20th, 2024.
  • Winner of the race: James from Sellafield who ran a fantastic time of 19 mins 4 seconds; Best fancy dress – Maria in the Sumo outfit
  • Big thank you to everyone who took part especially those in fancy dress on such a warm day, we hope you will join us again next year!

What to look forward to in July

It’s a Knockout

  • It’s a Knockout returns to Birchwood Park on Wednesday 10th July!
  • This fun team building event is great way to meet other companies on the Park.
  • Entries cost £200 per team (Up to 10 people per team) and all money raised will go to our Park community partner Peace & Mind UK.

  • Downtown in Business, in partnership with the Northern Power Towns group, will host a half-day conference on the opportunities and potential of our regional towns.
