November is for Entrepreneurs

This month is full of celebrations for entrepreneurs! Not only is it National Entrepreneur Month, but there’s also Global Entrepreneurship Week, National STEM Day and National Entrepreneurs’ Day. In Kansas City, Global Entrepreneurship Week means inspiration, education and networking at Union Station from November 19 to 21.

• This year’s event features five tracks: finance, market, operate, startup and Espa?ol sesiones.
• Must-have items include business cards, your phone, a notebook and pen and comfortable footwear. Union Station is 850,000 square feet, after all!

ICYMI: Park graduate Avium, KU earn $5 million DoE award

Avium, a graduate company of KU Innovation Park, in partnership with the University of Kansas, was recently awarded $5 million from the Department of Energy to make clean hydrogen more affordable.

• According to the DoE, the work at KU is part of $750 million in funding for 52 projects across 24 states “to dramatically reduce the cost of clean hydrogen and reinforce American leadership in the growing hydrogen industry.”
• The work at KU and Avium will develop new catalysts and technologies to improve the efficiency and reliability of green hydrogen production.
• Avium remains in Lawrence and is now located at Peaslee Tech. The award will also support technical training and career-building opportunities for students there and at Urban Tec in Kansas City.

• Rubrik was named the 2024 Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California.
