Murderous Joe Goldberg having a beard has something to do with him living in Paris.
We know he looks charming but his intentions are quite opposite. In the outro of the last ep of YOU S-3, we got to know Joe moved to Paris in the search of the love of his life (at least he calls it so). And, she solely can help him fulfill the desire to murder people in the name of love.
Since 3 seasons are over now, and joe has never considered having a beard, but in Paris he is different.
This time the character of Joe has significant changes in the look. The outfits, a missing pinky toe, hitting on the mother of a 6-year-old, and probably everything we can imagine.
But, my concern is such a remarkable change has something to do with living in Paris. The delicious food, the fashion-obsessed people, the serene streets, or the right-from-the-painting weather.
Paris does something to the people. It has the force to change a PJ lover to tux wearing man.
The guys who roam in boxers suddenly start to wear camel coats and boots in the city of love.
And, I bet we are going to witness the fashion transformation of Joe in season 4.
The beard has always made a man look sophisticated and macho. Not stereotyping anything here, but it is the truth.
Seeing Joe in the rugged beard for the first time literally made me go nuts.
The psycho lover of Beck, who killed her best friend Peach and put the house on fire in which his wife Love was lying fainted. This guy doesn't seem like he can put on a beard and maintain it.
What can the City of Love do to you?
This again is the magic of Paris. The fear of being judged can make you a poised person, who has spent 20 hours deciding what outfit to wear, what shoes will go with that outfit, and what scent to wear. And, can spend 5 hours doing the grooming to look well-put-up.

Paris is such a fashion-obsessed place and is driving people crazy to buy expensive outfits, diamond-studded shoes, and croissants for breakfast on a daily basis.
The representation of the city is quite similar in every movie and TV show as well.
If you watch Devil wears a Prada, you will get to see, how Paris, despite being the city of love is not quite welcoming to its newbies.
There is always a judgmental eye on you if you are in casuals.
Conflict of interest is right around the corner.
I know the Blair Waldorfs of the internet won't agree with me and I am okay with it. Because the privilege comes in handy whereas, achieving it is a whole different story.
Moving to Paris and realizing the city is no doubt divine, fashionable, and is indeed a treat to the eyes. But most of the people who move to Paris, for some reason hide its sad reality.
Everybody is very keen on showing off the amazing life they are having and how happy they are in Paris.
They often won't tell about how spurning the people of this city are, and how that will change one's whole personality.
Takeaways.
Just because the marketing of a city is based on its beauty and romance doesn't mean the insides will be the same.
Living there is going to be equally difficult and anxious for the newbies and judging them will only add up to the negatives.
