PARENTS BEWARE OF PREDATORS

In the last 18 hours, Jessica's Law Now has assisted four parents who had incidents where individuals tried to take their child. Each child was out playing.

Thank the Lord above; these children got away without incident. The authorities and the media monitor each situation to catch all involved parties.

Keep an eye on your child; it is better for children playing outside to be among friends.

Safety Tips for Children:

Could you tell your child to get help or come directly home if something feels wrong? Sometimes, a child is out and has a feeling about a person by not feeling safe or something in the surroundings.

Always walk anywhere with a friend or in a group. Predators go after children who are alone. Friends help you stay safe.

Your child must know their full name, parent's name, address, and phone number. The child is in an emergency or lost and can inform authorities.

Predators groom children by getting them to keep secrets. Best teach your child they can talk to you about anything. Open talking keeps a line of trust between the child and the parent.

What is called the Freeze game by separation? If you and your child get separated when out, it is best to stay where you are as long as it is a safe environment. Best for a child, say to store personnel or person staying here until my parents come. Could you teach your child to ask store personnel or police if lost and let them know?

Another game is called the Big Yelling Match. Teach your child to yell Fire, or You're not my Mommy/Daddy if they are grabbed or forced by any stranger. This draws attention that predators do not want.

Family Code Word. Anytime somebody has to get your child for any reason, especially not knowing the person. Have a word they give that only the child knows; it is between the child and parents if the term is used best to change it to another.
