Parenting method to build a Corporate Culture

Corporate Culture & Corporate Values are intangible factors that are really important for a company's growth & sustainability, but sometimes are still under-estimated by the top management. The Corporate culture is something that can determine for the employees whether they can feel "homey" or not expecting that the values proclaimed are the beliefs and behaviors that are already well adopted within cross organization.

Management of a company who really understand the relationship between Corporate Culture and Corporate Values will be in a better position to lead the company that is in a fast paced growth, recruiting many pro-hire professional from the market. When the recruitment strategy is "buy from the market" instead of "promotion from within", many different cultures from outside will infiltrate with new hires will demonstrate cultures/values that they already used to from their previous "home".

If the management really understand the importance of new hires for culture assimilation, then the initial probation period (usually 3 months from the first day of on-boarding) will the crucial window to ensure that the new hires can pass the probation, not only to stress on their minimum competency to carry out their job desk, but also to ensure that their behavior are align with the company's values since they serve as the moral and ethical compass that guides the organization's behavior.

On contrary, a company who is not ready to tackle the situations may end up having mix cultures, internal confrontation and each department working in silo with their own style. The ideal objective to have a super-team will end up with many supermen.

When I was little, I thought that becoming the top leader of an organization is really an easy task just playing boss giving orders, but will it be sustainable and support the company's growth? As I'm getting older and become a parent, I know that it is not easy to become a parent to teach the best principles to our children, it takes patience to nurture the positive behaviors expected. The parent will need to be a good role model for the children, and only then there will be a "buy in" to adopt the expected beliefs and behaviors.

Similar actions need to be adopted in running a company with "parenting method" to ensure the company's growth and sustainability, specially when more Gen Z work force are entering the market and prioritizing their mental health. Most likely Gen Z will find a "homey" company with embedded positive corporate values, and in return the company can expect to get the best values unleashed from their employees.

So Corporate Values should be in the heart of top management that is running the company and not just a jargon posted in front of the receptionist desk, and followed by continuous thrive for building a "homey" corporate culture.
