Parashat Vayigash: Joseph Reveals Himself to His Brothers

"And Joseph could no longer restrain himself before all those standing by him, and he cried out, "Bring out every man from me; and no man stood with him," when Joseph made himself known to his brothers." (Genesis 45:1)

The Zohar states: "As long as Joseph and Judah did not come near each other, there was no peace. Since Joseph and Judah came near together, then peace increased in the world. And joy was increased above and below."

When a person acts for his own benefit alone, abundance cannot flow to him from above.

What is the secret here, and is it also very relevant to our lives today?

"Rabbi Yehuda began and said, for behold the kings are destined (Psalms 48:5), this is Yehuda and Yosef, because both were kings… For when the will and the uniqueness are revealed, then the two worlds, Zeir Anfin and Nukva, communicate together and are destined together. This, Zeir Anfin, to open the treasury and to distribute, and this, the kingdom, to assemble and gather into it the abundance."

"It is known that all sins come through the will to receive for oneself. That is, since all created things come from the perspective of the kingdom, which is called the "will to receive," which is the essence of creation… And when a person makes repentance. And what is repentance? What a person accepts upon himself is that a person says, that from this day forward he will do everything for the sake of heaven and not for his own benefit, that is, all actions will be with the intention of bestowing, which is called "equalizing the form." It is found that through repentance, he causes that at the root of his soul, in the kingdom, there will also be only to bestow. For example, Zeir Anfin, who is the influencer, who is called the aspect of the Holy One, blessed be He… and this is what is written: “For when the will and the uniqueness are revealed, then they connect together, and are destined together, this, Zeir Anfin, to open the treasury and influence, and this, the kingdoms, to assemble and gather into it the abundance.” And then, for behold, the kings are destined.”

In simple words:

When a person acts for his own benefit alone, abundance cannot flow to him from above.

Rectifying our heart to love creates a connection in the higher worlds and infuses us with abundance.

The connection between Yehuda and Yosef hints to us about the connection in the higher worlds.
