The Parallels Between Teaching in the Dance World and Business: An Analysis with My Insights

The teaching process in the dance world and in the business world has some parallels, especially in terms of student evaluation and the role of teachers. However, it is important not only to look at the performance of the students, but also to analyze the role of the teachers in more detail and to constantly improve it.

Often, the focus is only on student performance and their ability to apply what they have learned. While this is important, it is important to remember that teachers play a critical role. Some students are quickly judged as "bad" without looking at the teachers.

The development of teachers should not end with their initial training. The teaching process is a continuous process and teachers should always strive to develop. The saying "The student becomes better than the master" should, in my opinion, be expanded a little. " The student gets better than the master, however the master must be aware of always remaining a learner."

Regarding the parallels between dance and business, I would like to highlight three important insights:

An expert in a field is not automatically a good teacher. This is just as true in the business world as it is in the dance world. Expertise, work ethic and motivation alone are not enough to impart knowledge. Teachers must also have social skills, sensitivity, empathy and, above all, self-reflection in order to adapt teaching techniques to the individual.

The search for improvement should start with teachers first. If teaching is not bearing fruit, teachers should not immediately blame students. Instead, they should question their teaching method and look for ways to improve.

Perfecting basic skills is often more effective than focusing on complex techniques. In the dance world, as in the business world, it makes sense to focus on Basic skills before moving on to more complex tasks.

In both worlds, it is important that instructors understand the needs of their students and adapt their teaching methods accordingly. Student motivation and success depend heavily on the quality of teaching, and instructors should continually strive to improve their skills in order to be effective teachers.

Sehr interessant! Aus der Musikwelt wei? ich, dass es definitiv ein Versagen des Lehrers ist, wenn Schüler*innen Interesse verlieren. Das gilt genauso auch für Unternehmen. Leadership is key! ??
