A well-trained manager can have a great impact on your business, they can impact engagement, retention, motivation, and productivity through the employees they manage. It is so important to work with leaders and managers to develop their skills and work with their ability and experience within their job role, so they are best placed to get results from their team. What sometimes can be seen as underperformance by an individual manager, could be a lack of training and coaching to develop their managerial skills. The Treasury has announced the next increase in the minimum wage for apprentices will be April 2023, with the rate going up from £4.81 to £5.28 an hour. The 47p increase equates to a 9.7 per cent rise, and is in line with a recommendation from the Low Pay Commission.
An increase in the wage is a positive step forward for the industry; helping to ensure potential apprentices are kept interested and drawn to the scheme, and it may help more young people consider apprenticeships after finishing school.

Suppliers must not use any form of involuntary labour or child labour, must provide a safe workplace, and offer fair rewards and recognition. Contractual arrangements ensure that our suppliers share our commitments to meeting these requirements; where they fail to comply with our terms, they will be required to take remedial steps, or agreements may be terminated.
Having spent over £189K of its levy funds since April 2022 to invest in its own people and apprenticeship programme, Aster worked with training provider, Paragon Skills, to identify a business who would benefit from funds for apprenticeship training. This led to them gifting the money to Nightingale Retirement Care to help finance the training of 12 Level 2 Adult Care apprentices.
The funding will not only cover training costs but will also provide career opportunities in a much-needed and understaffed industry – and enable Nightingale to upskill its workforce.
